Yolo County Invitational
Muller Ranch
Yolo, CA
October 2, 2004
High school runners from all over Northern California descended Saturday on the rolling hills and vineyards of Muller Ranch, site of the second annual Yolo County Cross Country Invitational. This meet, with over 1300 runners competing, was hosted jointly by the Davis and Woodland high school cross country teams. The DHS girls had an outstanding day, with the Varsity, JV, and Frosh/Soph teams each placing first. The Varsity boys placed second out of 23 teams, behind Jesuit, while the JV boys were fourth and the Frosh/Soph team eighth.
Thad Sieracki had the best finish of any DHS athlete, placing 2nd in a varsity field of over 170 runners. DHS had their top four runners place in the top 20, with sophomore Brendan Gregg placing 6th, followed by Scott Halliday and Patrick Lynch in the 14th and 18th spots.
In the varsity girls division, Kaitlin Gregg, still recovering from a lingering calf injury, had a strong race with a third place finish. Her teammates followed closely and packed well, with sophomore Chelsea Reilly running 5th, Nadine Ibrahim in 8th, and Grace Pettygrove and freshman Allison Manderfield finishing together in 21st and 22nd place.
In the Frosh/Soph races, Rebecca Woo, Sarah Chan, and Jonah Weeks ran strongly as a team, placing in 3rd, 4th, and 6th. Freshman Adam Boone led the boys with a 34th place finish. Matt Solomon was the top finisher in the JV race with a 19th place, while the JV girls were led by Amy Elson (8th) and Tina Thornhill (9th).
