Stanford Invitational March 31 and April 1, 2006 A small group of Davis High track athletes competed Friday and Saturday at the Stanford Invitational, a highly competitive high school and college meet that attracted over 4000 participants from across the nation. Lauren Guerrieri had the best placing of day, taking fourth in the discus with a toss of 132 feet 4 inches. Guerrieri is currently ranked among the top female throwers in California. Distance runners Chelsea Reilly and Brendan Gregg had outstanding efforts in their races. Reilly showed that she is on pace for another fine season, finishing fifth in the girls mile run with in 5:01.25, her second fastest time lifetime. She also anchored the 4 x 400 relay with a split of 61.3, another lifetime best. Gregg finished ninth in the 3000 meters on Friday evening with a personal best time of 8:45.81. His teammate, Patrick Lynch, also had a personal best of 9:02.03 at 3000 meters, placing 20th overall in a field of 44 runners. Gregg came back on Saturday with a victory in his section of the mile run. His time of 4:25.09 was another personal best and good enough for tenth overall. Jonah Weeks was fourth in her section of the girls 3000 meters and 15th overall with a lifetime best time of 10:42.88. The Blue Devils compete again next Wednesday in an MEL meet in Napa against Vintage High School.
