The Stanford Invitational is a large cross country meet with teams traveling from Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Hawaii, but this year's version was perhaps the largest ever in its history. Davis High varsity girls went up against 31 other teams while the varsity boys were one of 50 teams in large school Division 1 competition. The girls made a very strong showing, taking fifth place in team scoring. Kaitlin Gregg was 12th in the field of 229 runners. Chelsea Reilly (48th), Veronica Miqueo (49th), Paige Stewart (74th), and Nadine Ibrahim (83rd) completed the scoring for the Blue Devils. Lauren Seabury and Christine Wang were 142nd and 179th respectively. It was a bit tougher for the boys as 359 runners lined up for the start. The first mile was very fast and crowded, making it difficult to move up in position. They managed a respectable 20th place team finish and were the second Division 1 school from the Sac-Joaquin section, only two points behind Lincoln of Stockton. Thad Sieracki (64th), Jeremy Del Cid (140th), Dustin Schelegle (147th), Ricky Martin (180th), and Brendan Gregg (184th) were top five for Davis. Scott Halliday was 214th and Steve Buchanan was 226th. The Blue Devils compete again next Wednesday in an MEL center meet at Vacaville's Lagoon Valley Park.
