The Mission: (as defined by the team) Run well Do your best Have fun at the Happiest Place on Earth Support the goals of your teammates Strengthen connections with teammates Represent DHS in the best way Respect teammates and guests at the hotel and Disneyland Eighty one Davis High cross country team members traveled to southern California over the weekend to compete in the 58th annual Mt. SAC Invitational. The meet is the largest high school cross country event in the United States. Races started every seven minutes over a two day period and an estimated 11,000 athletes traversed the famed 2.91 mile course. Highlights for Blue Devil teams included an 11th place finish for the varsity boys in the team sweepstakes division, which ended up being the fastest boys high school race ever run on the Mt. SAC course. The varsity girls were first in their section of the large school races and the junior varsity girls were third in their race. Junior Brendan Gregg led the charge for the varsity boys, capturing ninth place with a time of 15 minutes 10 seconds. Gregg's time was the fastest ever by a Davis athlete in the twenty one years the team has competed at Mt. SAC. Other medal winners were Jonah Weeks (4th girls varsity), Jenna Fritz (9th girls varsity), Maddie Hall (13th girls varsity), Grace Pettygrove (9th girls junior varsity), Emily Dimond (8th freshman girls), Matt Petersen (6th freshman boys), and Drew Petersen (15th freshman boys).
