Wednesday, October 27 Alston Park, Napa CA Davis High captured three of four MEL cross country titles Wednesday at Napas Alston Park. The varsity boys ran to a convincing win over Napa, taking the league title with a 26-44 win. Brendan Gregg won the race by a large margin and was supported by second and fourth place finishes from teammates Patrick Lynch and Scott Halliday. The varsity girls knew that a victory over state ranked Vacaville (10th - Division 2) would secure a share of the league title and gave it their best shot. Chelsea Reilly outkicked Vacaville's Cecily Lemmon to win the race. Kaitlin Gregg took fourth, but Vacaville's top four runners were second, third, fifth, and sixth and that provided the margin of victory in the Bulldogs 33-41 win. Frosh/Soph boys and girls easily defended their titles from a year ago. The boys were led by Jonathon Kelly (1st) and Frank Tempest (3rd). Greta Brandt won the frohs/soph girls race and Julia ter Haar finished third. The Blue Devils next race will be the Sac-Joaquin Subsection Championships on November 6th at Angels Camp.
