Cross Country MEL League Meet Davis High vs. Armijo October 22, 2003 Community Park DHS harriers sweep again… Davis High cross country hosted Armijo in an MEL dual meet yesterday at Community Park. Yet again, DHS harriers swept every race against an undermanned league opponent. All Davis runners were running on cruise control as they began a short resting phase in anticipation of this weekend's Mt. SAC Invitational in southern California. In varsity girls, three of the top four runners opted to not race and trained on their own. Freshman Chelsea Reilly led the varsity girls to a 1-2-3 sweep with Lauren Seabury and Candice Wang following close behind. All the varsity boys chose to race, and their depth was quite evident. Ricky Martin, Steve Buchanan, and Jeremy Del Cid took the top three spots and led the Blue Devils to an easy win. Jason Meierhenry and Alex McKee-Ota were 1-2 for the frosh/soph boys. Likewise, Grace Pettygrove and Sarah Chan were 1-3 for the frosh/soph girls. This weekend, 77 Davis High runners will travel to the 56th annual Mt. SAC Invitational, the largest high school cross country meet in the United States. With races scheduled to start every seven minutes, over 11,000 high school runners will compete in races over two days on the historic 2.95 mile course at Mt. San Antonio College.
