Davis High took on Vacaville in an MEL cross country meet at Lagoon Valley Park on Wednesday. The varsity squads were at less than full strength as several top runners chose to rest in preparation for Saturday’s Clovis Invitational or remain in Davis for afternoon classes. Those who made it to the starting line put up strong efforts, but fell just short in team scoring as Vacaville won both varsity races by narrow margins. Ricky Martin, Jeremy Del Cid, and Steve Buchanan continued to run as a tight group, finishing within 14 seconds of each other. Veronica Miqueo and Lauren Seabury both had personal best times on the hilly Vacaville course for the varsity girls. The frosh/soph boys and girls swept their races as Vacaville was unable to field complete teams. Patrick Lynch and Jake Allen led the frosh/soph boys and Kaitlyn Beesley-Campos, Sarah Chan, and Greta Brandt were top finishers for the frosh/soph girls.
