Sacramento Meet of Champions
Hughes Stadium
April 30, 2005
Davis High's best track and field athletes competed at the Sacramento Meet of Champions on Saturday at Hughes Stadium. Last year's meet was rated as the fifth best in-season high school competition in the country. This year's meet proved worthy of the hype as state leading marks were posted in numerous events. The best DHS effort of the day came from sophomore Chelsea Reilly as she raced against a stellar field in the invitational girls 1600 meters. She finished seventh with a time of 5:00.44, over nine seconds faster than her previous best. Her time was the 18th fastest recorded in California this year. Her teammate, Brendan Gregg, was fifth in the invitational boys 3200 meters in 9:28.39, 29th fastest in the state this year and the sixth fastest by a sophomore. Lauren Guerrieri took fourth in the girls invitational discus with a toss of 121 feet 4 inches. Scott Halliday (open 3200 meters), Jonah Weeks (open 3200 meters), Patrick Lynch (frosh/soph 1600 meters), Kyle Buchoff (frosh/soph 1600 meters), and Kara DiBiasio (open 400 meters) all ran personal best times in their races.
