Lagoon Valley Classic Invitational Lagoon Valley Park Vacaville, CA September 8, 2007 Davis High School's cross country season kicked into high gear this weekend at the Lagoon Valley Classic hosted by Vacaville High School. 873 runners competed in the seven high school division races. Kenny Durell (varsity boys), Laurynne Chetelat (varsity girls), and Trevor Halsted (sophomore boys) were individual winners in their respective races. The varsity girls took second place in team scoring against a strong state ranked squad from Ponderosa High, losing by a single point, 39-40. State ranked Woodcreek High won the varsity boys team title with 70 points, Sheldon High was second with 77 points, and Davis was third with 80 points. Davis captured team titles for junior varsity girls, sophomore boys, and junior varsity boys. Maddie Hall (varsity girls), Matt Petersen (varsity boys), Karen Ding (junior varsity girls), Robert Chu and Adam Boone (junior varsity boys), Grayson Hough (sophomore boys), Kabir Jensen (frosh boys), and Christine Bowlus and Hilary Teaford (frosh/soph girls) were top five finishers in their races. The Blue Devils begin Delta Valley Conference competition next Wednesday at Sacramento's Granite Regional Park.
