Woodward Park - Fresno, CA October 6, 2007 Click here for Clovis results - All races and all schools The Davis High cross country teams competed at the Clovis Invitational in Fresno on Saturday. The meet was held at Woodward Park, home of the state high school cross country championships since 1987. The trip was a rehearsal for a hoped for return trip to the state meet in late November. Davis runners wracked up a bevy of personal best times on the course while racing against some of the best teams in California. Senior Laurynne Chetelat led the girls to a fifth place team finish in the girls championship race. She finished in fourth place overall with a time of 17:58 (fastest DHS all time at Woodward). Her teammate, Jonah Weeks, was 12th overall in 18:40 (fourth fastest DHS all time at Woodward), an improvement of 26 seconds over her previous best. In a very tough championship boys race, the DHS boys were 11th in team scoring despite running the fourth fastest DHS team time on the course since 1987. All five DHS runners ran best times on the Woodward Park course, including Kenny Durell in 15:52 (fourth fastest DHS all time at Woodward) and Trevor Halsted in 16:53 (fastest DHS freshman all time at Woodward). Davis junior varsity runners also competed at Clovis in the regular varsity girls and boys races. These races were big challenges for DHS as they competed against the top varsity runners from most of the other schools in those races. The girls were led by Halea Meese and Charlotte ter Haar. The time spread between all seven girls was a mere 44 seconds. The boys were led by a suburb effort from sophomore Dillon Shaw, who nearly broke 17 minutes in his first effort at Woodward Park. Shaw finished in 17:07. He was followed by Grayson Hough, another sophomore, who finished in 17:28. DHS results are below.
