Davis High track athletes put up good marks at the West Valley/Chico Invitational 55 schools participated at the West Valley/Chico Track and Field Invitational on Friday at the CSU Chico track. Davis High had some superb performances both in the field events and on the track. In the triple jump, Sid Arahdya finished sixth with a personal best mark of 41 feet 8.5 inches. Amy Elson broke the 33 foot barrier for the first time this season to take eighth place with a final mark of 33 feet 3 inches. Lauren Guerierri was second in the discus with a toss of 129 feet 5 inches. Alex Chavanne jumped 5 feet 8 inches for sixth in the high jump. On the track, a trio of freshman led the way for the girls. Rebecca Hammond raced to fifth in the 400 meters with a lifetime best of 61.72 seconds. Jenna Fritz was fifth in the 800 meters in 2 minutes 26.34 seconds. Maddie Hall had a pair of sixth place finishes with a 5:21.13 effort in the 1600 meters and a personal best of 11:29.19 for 3200 meters. Matt Solomon's time of 41.95 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles was almost a two-second improvement from his previous personal best and good enough for fifth place. Juniors Brendan Gregg, Patrick Lynch, and Zach Bonner set the pace in the distance events.
