Bella Vista Bronco Invitational
October 14, 2006
Willow Hills - Folsom
Saturday's Bella Vista Bronco Invitational in Folsom was a chance for younger, less experienced Davis High runners to step up in an invitational meet. A number of DHS varsity runners were off this week after tough back to back races at Clovis and Stanford while others DHS runners were taking SAT tests this weekend.
The frosh/soph girls had the highest team finish of the day, taking third place. They were led by Christine Bowlus and Dana Randall who were individual medalists with eighth and 14th place finishes.
The varsity boys, led by juniors Adam Boone, Robert Chu, sophomore Ben Buddingh, and freshmen Dillon Shaw and Peter Roush, finished sixth in team scoring in an 18 team field. Their team finish was perhaps the most surprising team effort of the day as all five scorers were moved up from their normal divisions.
DHS captured two other individual medals on the day. David Julian took second place for the junior varsity boys and Bryan Soto was ninth in the frosh boys race.
Davis High races again next Saturday at the 59th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational, the largest high school cross counry meet in the nation, held in Walnut, CA.
