Meet Results Bay Area Distance Festival March 16, 2007 Edwards Field - UC Berkeley Distance runners from the Davis High track team competed Friday at the inaugural Bay Area Distance Festival. The meet was held at historic Edwards Field on the UC Berkeley campus. There were over 1500 entries in just 6 events, the boys and girls 800, 1600, and 3200 meter races. Portable stadium lights lit the field after sunset, marking the first night time event in the stadium's 75 year history. Davis runners showed they liked running under the lights as they dominated the placing in the evening's 1600 and 3200 meter invitational events. Junior Laurynne Chetelat captured the girls 1600 in a fine early season time of 4:58.02. Senior Brendan Gregg won the boys 1600 with a lifetime best mark of 4:20.04. The boys 3200 meter invitational race was a see-saw battle with multiple lead changes between DHS senior Patrick Lynch, Jesuit's Evan Watchempino, and the eventual winner, Fairfield's Anthony Costales. Lynch finished in second place with a huge lifetime best of 9:25.91. His teammates, Zach Bonner and Kenny Durell were fifth (9:29.35) and 11th (9:43.16) both of which were personal best times. Sophomore Maddie Hall took fifth overall in the girls 3200 in another personal best time of 11:20.55. Halea Meese (3200 meters), Merek Kesser (800 meters), and Matt Petersen (3200 meters) were winners in their earlier heats, all with personal best times.
