April 8th and 9th Arcadia High School Arcadia, California Four members of the Davis High track team competed this weeked in southern California at the Arcadia Invitational. The two day meet, among the largest high school meets in the United States, had over 4,400 entries. Sophomore Lauren Guerrieri opened things for DHS on Friday night, competing in the girls open discus competition. Guerrieri had another in a string of outstanding efforts, finishing seventh with a toss of 116' 2 1/2". It was a personal best throw and broke her own school record. Thad Sieracki and Brendan Gregg competed on Friday in the late night boys rated 2 mile run. The 24 runner field was crowded and a bit rough for six laps with all the runners staying tightly bunched. Sieracki made a daring surge on lap seven, running a 65 second split and opening a 40 meter lead on the field. His lead was just large enough for the victory, edging out Santana Ynez High's Carlyle Eubank at the tape. Sieracki's time of 9:29.61 was a lifetime best. Brendan Gregg was the fastest sophomore in the 2 mile field where seven of the top nine times were recorded by seniors. Gregg finished in ninth place with a personal best time of 9:40.19. Kaitlin Gregg started things off on Saturday morning with a 6th place finish in section three of the open girls mile run. Her time was 5:26.55. Brendan Gregg followed in a special frosh/soph "rising stars" mile. He again finished in 9th place, with another lifetime best of 4:32.62. Thad Sieracki finished the day with an 8th place finish in section 1 of the open mile run, taking 8th place in 4:27.89, his third best time lifetime.
